Toyota Kiloskar Motors is all set to double the sales in the year 2011. last year the company sold 74,759 cars which was 38 % higher than 2009 and this year they aim to increase it to 150,000.The Deputy Managing Director Tomonaga Shigeru informed Deccan Harold that the projections are based on higher sales of its major existing models Innova, Corolla & Camry and new launches of small sedan Etios and a hatchback Liva. Booking for Etios began about a month ago. Mr Shigeru stated that the company is elated with the response which they have received from the customers for Toyota Etios with 18,000 booking across India. Some dealers have already begun delivering the vehicle and some customers have to wait due to long waiting list. According to Mr Shigeru, the Indian automobile market trend is very positive as domestic car sales jumped 31 per cent and reached 14.15 lakh numbers during April-December 2010. “As Indian population has huge share of middle class which is the backbone of car market, almost all car makers have set up their plants in India,” he added. Toyota is confident of doubling its sales in 2011 as it’s new launches Toyota Etios and Liva are in smaller car segments, which account for 70 per cent of the car market. TKM is also working towards expanding it’s sales and marketing network. ” We had 100 dealers in 2010 and now the numbers have gone up to 150 and we look forward to increasing it. “Our focus is Tier 2 cities now”, Shigeru said.14.15 lakh numbers during April-December 2010. “As Indian population has huge share of middle class which is the backbone of car market, almost all car makers have set up their plants in India,” he added.
