Koh Chang Has Many New Resorts and Hotels

Koh Chang has a land area of about 429 square kilometers. It has a national park and other natural wonders. This island is a place to “get away from it all.” It is the perfect place for a honeymoon or romantic weekend also. The most popular beaches are located on the west coast, spanning from the north to the south. These include, Ao Khlong Son, Hat Sai Khao, and Hat Kai Bae. Jet skis, banana boats, parasailing are banned on Koh Chang. Therefore, it is recommended to rent a motorbike to explore the interior when not swimming in the many serene beaches. There is a road that cuts through the western shore almost reaching Hat Bae. From here, is a nature trail which passes through Ao Bai Lan all the way to the fishing community of BanBang Bao.

Dusit Princess Koh Chang is a luxurious resort situated on the beachfront. Bai Lan Bay is a verdant natural jungle setting far from industrialization and commercialization. Koh Chang is the second largest island in Thailand. This island is a great place for hiking and not far from the pier is the shrine of Chao Po and Chao Mae Koh Chang at the end of a steep road on the west coast. Tan Mayom Waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls on the island. White Sand Beach is one of the longest beaches on the island. Inland from the beach are many coconut trees and thick jungles of fauna to go exploring in. Bang Bao Fishery Village is a fascinating community of stilt-like houses planted in the sea interconnected with bridges. There are many outer islands to visit also. Ko Ngam is just south of Ko chang. Daily trips can be scheduled by boat or ferry to most of these islands. The naval Battle Area is in the south also near Salak Petch Bay. This is where the battle between Thai and French soldiers occurred in a conflict over the east border in 1941. There is also a Naval War Memorial on Laem Ngob Beach.

For a more lighthearted activity, Tree Top Adventure Park is where travelers can go to experience the spectacular views from the trees. Using “rope and harness” techniques, nature lovers from all walks of life and ages can enjoy this unique and safe activity. Elephant trekking is also available. For mellower activities, there is a Thai cooking school at the Aiyapura Resort or exploring the many dense forests and jungles in the interior. Koh Chang is 385 kilometers from Bangkok, it can be reached by bus from the Ekkamai bus station in Bangkok or by air to Trat. Remember to reserve a room in advance during the high season.
